(Nepeta cataria.) A favourite of Cats. Add the dried catnip to a sachet or sprinkle in front of your Cat to help bring out their inner kitten. Sacred to Bast, the Egyptian Cat Goddess. Catnip was added to sachets to help create a psychic bond between the cat and his/her carer. It was also added to love sachets and it is said that if Catnip grows near the home it will attract good spirits and luck. Catnip has been used in spells to enhance beauty and happiness. It was also believed to deter the (evil-eye) from children given to fits, this because of its ability to calm an extremely agitated child and diminish nightmares.
