Offering dolls have been made and offered to the Gods for thousands of years. A symbol to honour the Deity in their many forms, traditions and pantheons and to call upon favorable blessings from them for oneself, family and other matters.
Offering dolls were and still are popular throughout Scandinavia and Europe where they protect and bless the home and those within. The doll can be placed onto your altar or the front of your home, door or window. During ritual to a particular God or Goddess the doll can be offered in any way you choose. A balefire will send the energies through the smoke while burying will be through the earth, alternately you may choose to leave the offering doll to the wildlife and allow the energies to mingle back into the Earth.
This simple hay offering doll has been hand fashioned from our own farmland hay and is approx 12cm in height. The simple design is the style that we use ourselves when honouring the Norse Gods but can happily be used for any pantheon/tradition.
