(Cinnamomum zeylanicum)
Aka Ceylon Cinnamon, Sweet Cinnamon or True Cinnamon. Native to Sri Lanka the small evergreen tree from the Laurel family produces a cinnamon scented fruit but it is the bark that is mostly valued. Used by the ancients in cooking and medicines, burnt at funerals by the Romans and used during embalming rituals by the ancient Egyptians. It is a spice associated with abundance and prosperity, healing, love, protection, strength and success. It is said to boost the energies, awaken the senses, psychic powers and enhance the libido.
