Echinacea purpurea
Aka Eastern Purple Coneflower or Hedgehog Flower. The word ‘Echinacea’ comes from the Greek word ‘Echinos’ which means hedgehog or sea urchin which can be observed in the prickly flower head of the plant. The plant is native to Eastern North America, the Ozarks and Mississippi Valley.
